I have a Fluval 204 Canister filter, it's been working fine for a couple of
years but I had to move my tank at the weekend and I can't get the filter to
work.

I've disconnected and reconnected all of the hose and Aqua stop connections
taking care that they are connected firmly. I've checked that the hoses
have no holes, that the seals aren't broken, that it's all assembled
correctly.

The motor runs, I sometimes get a little water pumping out but then it
peters out after 30 seconds or so.

The manual pump sometimes takes water through the intake, sometimes not, but
usually nothing coming through the outflow.

Of I take the outflow hose off and pump it manually water bubbles up, not
strong, but if I put the outflow hose back on nothing comes out, but the
hose is not blocked.

I switched the two hoses around but no change.

What should I try next? help! I'm not sure how long my fish will cope in a
newly moved tank with no water circulating.

Thanks.
